Hi, I’m Tanner Reisman, co-host of Next-Gen Thoroughbred Podcast! I grew up in Youngstown, New York, as a small town kid that grew up around quarter horses and deep stories from the Wild West — my love for animals runs deep, thanks to my grandmother who was raised on the 9 Diamond Ranch in Montana, surrounded by horses, cattle, and small animals.

I currently work as a yearling groom at Claiborne Farm, where I get to combine my passion for horses with hands-on experience at one of the most legendary farms in the industry. I’m also a former college soccer player and a proud graduate of SUNY Cobleskill, where I earned a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Business Management and an Associate’s in Animal Industry.

Through this podcast, I’m excited to share the stories of the incredible people shaping the Thoroughbred world and to help inspire the next generation coming up in the industry.

Hello, my name is Timothy Schmidt, and I’m originally from Oakland, Maryland. From a young age, I had a deep passion for horses, although I knew very little about the thoroughbred industry at the time. I once aspired to become a jockey, but I grew to be six feet tall, that path wasn’t quite feasible. Instead, my curiosity led me to explore how these incredible racehorses make it to the track.

In 2022, I was fortunate to be accepted into the Breeding and Foaling Internship at Claiborne Farm, which gave me my first hands-on experience in the industry. Today, I’m continuing to expand my knowledge as a Veterinary Technician at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital, gaining insight into another critical aspect of the thoroughbred world.

Through this podcast, I hope to continue learning about the industry, help educate those unfamiliar with the hard work and dedication it demands, and ultimately inspire the next generation of equine professionals.
